Does Google exist?

by Ken on Feb.11, 2010, under Complaints, google

3176167_blogI’m going to keep my Google bashing streak going…

This time all I want to do is use Google services.  Google Apps to be specific.  I want to set up a domain with Google Apps for email.  I use it for other domains and I love it.  But when I went to sign up with this new domain a couple months ago I got an error:

This domain has already been registered with Google Apps. Please contact your domain administrator for instructions on using Google Apps with this domain.

Fun right… So Mr Google is telling me to contact my administrator… OK.  well, that’s me. I contacted me and I can’t help.  Now what?   So I search and search, I find other people that have the same issue, and I try the suggestions but nothing works.  Google says to go to the control panel and click on something like “I am the administrator of this domain” well, I go there and get “Sorry, you’ve reached a login page for a domain that isn’t using Google Apps.”   I’m stuck in a loop….  “you need to create an account” then “And account already exists” over and over…   Some documents say wait 5 days and try again, the unverified accounts will be purged… nope.

Since there is no support from Google, there is nothing I can do but hope that someday I will be able to use Google apps with my domain.

I think Google took my lunch money too….

Google is out of control.

by Ken on Jan.17, 2010, under Complaints, google

We all know know Google is an unstoppable freight train…  Get on or get out of the way.  That’s fine I suppose, but what do you do when you get kicked off the train?

Google rules their domain with an iron fist. They don’t have time to worry about what’s fair.

Here is another example of Google raining down on it’s PAYING customers with the blind fury it is becoming famous for:

Google… I’m getting pissed.

by Ken on Sep.24, 2009, under google

You all know I’m on the Google bandwagon….  I have been for a long time.  I have about 5 email addresses coming into my gmail and a couple domains on google apps.  I have noticed that gmail gets flakey sometimes, especially on firefox.

Fine, whatever, I can deal with it…  but this morning I am trying to get to my email and as usual I’m refreshing and trying other browsers, no luck.  But then Google keeps popping up an annoying captcha box saying google thinks I’m a robot.  great.

After getting the boot from Google adsense with no explanation I am getting concerned that they could at any time decide that I am a robot and disable all the things I use EVERY DAY:

  • Gmail
  • Google Docs
  • Analytics
  • Ad Words

I’m not really too worried about Ad Words, I have a feeling that because I pay for it they will keep me around.

Knock it off Google.

My new beef with Google

by Ken on Jul.04, 2009, under AdSense

I’m sure you know I use almost every Google service that’s out there.  I have been using Google Adsense for a year or so on some of my sites, and after all that time I had finally reached the magic $100 mark and was looking forward to my first Google check.   Well,  soon after that I got the email: “Your Adsense account has been disabled”  apparently I pose a significant risk to Google advertisers.  I have no idea how,  and really I don’t care.  I may appeal the action at some point if I have a high traffic site that I need ads for but It seems far too evident that Google does not care about the little sites.

Goodbye Google, Hello Yahoo….    even though that hurts to say.  Maybe I’ll go to Bing.

et tu google?

by Ken Fluharty on Mar.26, 2009, under AdSense

I have said before that I has put all my faith and trust in google. And that is more true with every passing day…

Unfortunately, Google (more specifically AdSense) is letting me down. I was excited when I registered my newest domain name antisocialentrepreneur.com but I’m not ready to develop it yet, so I figured I would just park it with AdSense for Domains. (in case you don’t know, while parked with AdSense your page will come up with a google search box and some sponsored links etc…) Just like those Godaddy ‘This page is reserved’ sites except I will get some ad revenue (if any) instead of Godaddy hogging it all!! (Yeah, the Daddy is a selfish jerk sometimes)

Turns out that google thinks my domain name does not comply with their policy. I have no idea why they think that, unless someone at google is very bad with their vocabulary and thinks an entrepreneur is something obscene. Or maybe they think “anti-social” is some kind of hate speech… who knows….

Oh well, I guess I will have to put it over at WhyPark. (another domain parking service) for now.

Guess at least one of my eggs (albeit a small one) is not in Google’s basket for now.

Google Offline

by Ken Fluharty on Mar.18, 2009, under google

My life is in google’s hands and I have always been a little bit nervouse about that.

All my email is at Gmail, and all my important information is at google docs.  There has been many times when I needed to access an email or document but gmail was “experiencing technical difficulties”  well not anymore!

All you need to do is click on the “offline” link at the top of gmail and docs and set up Gears and you will always stay synchronised!

Need more help?   That’s not my problem, but click here anyways for a google instructional video.
